All four of No. 19 Illinois' semifinalists dropped their bouts in Saturday's evening session at the 2011 Big Ten Championships, falling into Sunday's consolation semifinal round. Fifth-seeded Conrad Polz won a pair of matches in the 165-pound consolation bracket, advancing to the consolation semifinals, while freshman 157-pounder Jackson Morse and senior 197-pounder Joe Barczak both will wrestle for seventh place on Sunday.

"We wrestled pretty well in all of our matches tonight, we just got beat," Illinois head coach Jim Heffernan said. "Jimmy (Kennedy) and B.J. (Futrell) both had chances to win their matches, they just couldn't score in key situations. Polz did a nice job but he still has to have a good day tomorrow against some pretty good guys."

Fourth-seeded B.J. Futrell scored the first takedown against No. 1 seed Andrew Long (Penn State), but Long escaped and notched a takedown to go up 3-2. Long started down in the second and escaped, and neither man could score again in the period. Futrell chose a neutral start to the third and shot in on Long, but the Nittany Lion blocked it and re-shot, taking Futrell off his feet for a takedown and the 6-2 victory. Futrell will face seventh-seeded Zac Stevens (Michigan) in Sunday's consolation semifinals.

No. 4 seed Jimmy Kennedy gave up a takedown to top-seeded Kellen Russell (Michigan) halfway through the first period at 141 but he escaped with 23 seconds left in the period. Russell started down in the second and escaped to go ahead 3-1, but Kennedy finished a double-leg to tie the match at 3. Russell escaped for a 4-3 lead going to the third period, where Kennedy started down. Russell rode him for about 45 seconds but Kennedy slipped free as the Wolverine was trying to lift him, tying the bout at 4. Kennedy got deep on a double-leg with 30 seconds left, but Russell spun out of bounds to avoid giving up points. The bout eventually went to overtime, where Kennedy got in on a double and Russell held onto a tight waist. He was able to spin behind Kennedy and score the deciding takedown for the 6-4 win in sudden-victory time. Kennedy will take on Northwestern's sixth-seeded Kaleb Friedley in Sunday's consolation semifinals.

Fourth-seeded Eric Terrazas gave up a takedown to top-seeded Frank Molinaro (Penn State) with 18 seconds left in the first and the Lion rode him out. Molinaro started down in the second and escaped quickly to go up 3-0. Terrazas started down in the third and got ridden out as Molinaro added the riding-time point for a 4-0 win. Terrazas will face Indiana's third-seeded Kurt Kinser in the consolation semifinals.

Dallago and No. 8 seed Quentin Wright (Penn State) wrestled at an extremely high pace in the first period, with both men scoring a takedown and Wright getting a reversal for a 4-3 lead after three minutes. Dallago started down in the second and escaped after 45 seconds and after no further scoring in the period, Wright started down in the third. He escaped after 21 seconds, putting his riding time at 59 seconds and giving the Lion a 5-4 lead. After some hand fighting, Wright powered through on a double-leg to scored the decisive takedown and add the riding-time advantage for an 8-5 win after a Dallago escape with 10 seconds left. Dallago will face Ohio State's No. 7 seed, C.J. Magrum, in Sunday's consolation semifinals.

Morse dominated sixth-seeded Brandon Zeerip (Michigan) in his first-round consolation match but dropped a 2-0 decision to Michigan State's seventh-seeded Sean McMurray. Morse will wrestle Ohio State's Sean Nemec for seventh place on Sunday.

Polz rolled through the wrestleback bracket, scoring an 8-3 win over Michigan State's Nick Kacznowski before downing Northwestern's eighth-seeded Kevin Bialka with a 13-4 major decision. He will take on Minnesota's Cody Yohn, the No. 3 seed, in the consolation semifinals. Polz will qualify for the NCAA Championships with a win in either of his matches on Sunday.

Barczak couldn't realize his goal of automatically qualifying for the NCAA Championships as he fell to fourth-seeded Matt Powless (Indiana), 3-0, in the consolation quarterfinals. He'll face Ohio State's eighth-seeded Peter Capone in the seventh-place match on Sunday.

Ben Friedl saw his season and likely his career come to an end when Minnesota's third-seeded Scott Glasser pinned him in 2:44. And heavyweight Pat Walker couldn't break through against fifth-seeded Ben Apland (Michigan) in his first-round consolation match, falling 5-1.

Sunday's wrestling starts at 1 p.m. CT with the consolation semifinals and seventh-place matches. The first-, third- and fifth-place matches will be contested at 3 p.m.
