Former Illini and world No. 40 Kevin Anderson advanced to the quarterfinals of the Sony Ericsson Open, March 22-April 3, in Miami after winning his fourth straight match of the tournament. Anderson defeated former Georgia standout and 30th-seeded John Isner, 6-3, 7-6 (4) to advance to the quarterfinals, where he will face second-seeded and undefeated Novak Djokovic Wednesday night not before 8 p.m. CT.
Djokovic, ranked No. 2 in the world, claimed the 2011 Australian Open and recently defeated world No. 1 Rafael Nadal to capture the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 Indian Wells singles title in early March. Live scoring for the match will be available HERE.
In the opening round, Anderson knocked off world No. 42 Nikolay Davydenko in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, before holding off 24th-seeded Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, and later cruised to a 6-2, 6-3, win over No. 69 Pablo Andujar in the third round.
