URBANA, Ill. - Former Illini standout Amer Delic took down Frederik Nielson, 7-6(4), 6-2, Wednesday night at Atkins Tennis Center to advance to the quarterfinals of the JSM Challenger. Delic, the 2006 JSM Challenger champion, will face 2009 winner and top-seeded Michael Russell Thursday evening.

"It was a great win for Amer tonight," Illini head coach Brad Dancer said. "I think he stuck with his game tonight. He got a little bit frustrated when he made some errors in the first set, but it was a great recovery by him to break right back and take the tiebreaker. I think he really asserted himself in the second set, and that was a positive step for Amer. He now faces a super challenge in the next match with former champion Michael Russell."

Tomorrow's action begins at Noon CT at Atkins Tennis Center. Delic's match will be the second match played after 5:30 p.m. on Court 1.
