URBANA, Ill. - Former Illini All-American Ryan Rowe picked up a stellar 6-1, 6-2 victory over current Illinois junior Bruno Abdelnour on Saturday at the JSM Challenger to advance to the second round of singles qualifying, which begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. CT, followed by the first round of doubles action tomorrow afternoon at Atkins Tennis Center.
Rowe will take on Nicholas Monroe for a chance to join fellow former Illini All-American and NCAA champion Amer Delic and Orange and Blue seniors Dennis Nevolo and Roy Kalmanovich in the tournament's main draw, which begins Monday, Nov. 14.
The JSM Challenger marks the end of the USTA Pro Circuit season and is the third of three straight indoor challengers that close out 2011 play.
