College Soccer 360 Primetime Performers (Week 9)
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - University of Illinois soccer senior defender Jenna Carosio (Novi, Mich./Novi) tallied College Soccer 360 Primetime Performer honors following Illinois' 1-0 victories over Minnesota and Wisconsin during a recent two-game homestand, as announced on CollegeSoccer360.com on Tuesday. Carosio is the only Big Ten Conference player to earn recognition during the ninth weekly installment of the honorees.
Carosio proved instrumental in both one-goal victories over the Gophers and Badgers, serving as the center defender for Illinoi. Carosio was responsible for maintaining the shape and movement of the Illini defense, and also had to limit the opposition in the middle of the pitch throughout the contest. As a result of Carosio's performances recently, the Orange and Blue have held their last four opponents without a goal to total a 415-minute scoreless streak. Carosio has also been awarded the Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week accolade and a spot on Soccer America's Team of the Week on Oct. 10 for her dominance over Michigan State and the Spartans' dangerous scoring duo of Laura Heyboer and Olivia Stander.
The Illini continue their season with their final regular season road trip, taking on Northwestern at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, Oct. 20, before heading to Lincoln, Neb., to face the Cornhuskers on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 1 p.m. CT. Both contests will be aired as Student U Productions on BigTenNetwork.com.
