CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - The University of Illinois softball team continues its fall slate on Sunday, Sept. 26 as the Illini play host to Heartland Community College at 1 p.m. Admission to the game is free.
The Illini have only allowed one run over the first three contests, with victories over DePaul, 7-1, Illinois-Chicago, 10-0, and Parkland College, 7-0. On Friday, Illinois earned the victory over Parkland with strong pitching performances from sophomores Pepper Gay and Jackie Guy. Gay allowed two hits over four innings while striking out six. Guy relieved her classmate for the fifth inning and closed the contest with three scoreless innings, only allowing one Parkland batter to reach base while striking out four.
The Orange and Blue will host Kankakee on Oct. 1 with a 5 p.m. contest before holding the annual Alumni Game on Oct. 9 at 1 p.m.
