Three Illini student-athletes visited Garden Hills Elementary School on Wed., March 31st to take part in the Student of the Month luncheon. Lacey Simpson from Women's Basketball, Willie Argo and Josh Parr from Men's Baseball congratulated this month's students of the month while joining them for a celebratory lunch of pizza, nachos and cupcakes. Lacey, Willie, and Josh handed out medallions to the kids that were honored, took questions, and ate lunch with them as part of the Hometown Heroes program.

Hometown Heroes is a community outreach program that provides our student-athletes with opportunities to interact with youth from Champaign County while spreading an anti-drug, anti-gang and pro-Illini message. This program enables our student-athletes to develop their speaking skills while impacting the lives of others as they serve as role models for the youth of our community.
