The Illini women's tennis team came away with three wins Saturday, as the Orange and Blue swept Memphis in doubles to highlight the second day of action at the Midwest Blast at Atkins Tennis Center.
Two new Illini doubles tandems collected wins on the day, as sophomore Breanne Smutko and freshman Allison Falkin topped Courtney Collins and Stefanie Mikesz, 8-3, while juniors Amy Allin and Chelcie Abajian shut out Andrea Arques-Garcia and Sarah Witkowski, 8-0 and sophomore Rachael White and freshman Misia Kedzierski defeated Kelly Gray and Kathleen Hawkins, 8-4, to improve to 3-1 for the fall.
The tournament will conclude Sunday with doubles beginning at 9 a.m., followed by two rounds of singles at 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Illinois will face Notre Dame in doubles and Memphis in singles at 12:30 p.m.
