2010 Lindenwood Open Results 
Twelve University of Illinois wrestlers opened their 2010-11 seasons at the Lindenwood Open on Saturday, with nine of them placing and two - sophomore B.J Futrell at 133 pounds and redshirt-freshman Mario Gonzalez at 197 - earning tournament titles. Futrell also was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Wrestler after earning two falls, a technical fall and a 10-4 decision on his way to a 4-0 record and a tournament title. Gonzalez, who was seeded No. 4 at 197, upset McKendree's top-seeded Andrew Sanchez (McKendree), 5-2, in the semifinals and beat No. 2 seed Deron Winn (Lindenwood), 5-1 in the title bout.
Sophomore Pat Walker took second at heavyweight, as did a pair of true-freshmen, Guy Kirby (149) and Jackson Morse (157). Walker went 3-1 in the heavyweight bracket as a No. 6 seed, upsetting the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds before falling to top-seeded Travis Ewart (Missouri Valley College), 6-3, in the title match. Kirby was unseeded at 149 and knocked off the Nos. 5 and 8 seeds before dropping an 8-3 decision to Oklahoma's third-seeded Justin Deangelis. Morse was seeded No. 2 at 157, scoring a major decision and a 41-second pin before defeating Missouri's No. 3 seed Drake Houdashelt, 9-8, in the semifinals. He lost by technical fall to Missouri's top-seeded Dan Gonsor in the title match.
In other action, sophomore Kyle Dooley (157) and redshirt-freshman Tony Dallago (184) each took third, while true-freshman Logan Arlis (125) and senior Ben Friedl (184) took sixth.
