Park Ridge, Ill. - Starting times and broadcast information have been determined for Illinois' remaining women's basketball schedule. The Big Ten Network will televise the Fighting Illini's game against Marquette on Dec. 9 and a total of 20 games will be streamed live on BigTenNetwork.com, the conference announced on Thursday.
The UI-Marquette game, which will tip at 8 p.m. CT, is the third Illinois game picked-up by the Big Ten Network this season, as the Jan. 10 game against Minnesota and the Feb. 21 game against Purdue are also slated for broadcast. In addition, the season-finale Feb. 28 at Northwestern could be a Big Ten Network wildcard game.
All Illinois non-conference home games and all Big Ten Conference games, home and away, that aren't being televised by the Big Ten Network will be streamed on BigTenNetwork.com, which means that 23 of Illinois' 28 regular season games will be either televised or streamed live. In addition, the Big Ten Tournament will be televised in its entirety by the Big Ten Network (first round, quarterfinals and semifinals) and ESPN2 (championship game).
Illinois' lone exhibition game is set for 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, while the home opener against Siena on Nov. 15 will be at 4 p.m. The Illini will then host Central Michigan at 7 p.m. on Nov. 18 and Bradley at 1 p.m. on Nov. 22. The remaining non-conference home game is against Oakland at 4 p.m. on Dec. 19.
Big Ten Conference play starts with three straight home games beginning with Ohio State on Dec. 28 at 7 p.m., followed by Penn State on Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. and Wisconsin on Jan. 3 at 3 p.m. From there Illinois' remaining home games are Minnesota on Jan. 10 at 3:30 p.m. (BTN), Iowa on Jan. 21 at 7 p.m., Michigan on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m., Indiana on Feb. 7 at 1 p.m., Northwestern on Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. and the regular-season home finale on Feb. 21 against Purdue at 4 p.m. (BTN).
The Big Ten Network's streaming initiative encompasses approximately 100 Big Ten women's basketball games. Expanded streaming on BigTenNetwork.com, combined with the conference's linear television package, will give Big Ten women's basketball television or internet coverage for nearly 90 percent of its home games in 2009-10. In addition to its streaming package, the Big Ten Network will broadcast 55 games on its linear network, while six more will be shown on ESPN2 and another will be aired by CBS Sports. Games streamed on www.BigTenNetwork.com will be produced in HD-quality and will cost $2.99 per game.
