Illini foursome makes the cut at 107th Western Amateur

Lake Forest, ill. - Four current Illinois players are among those 44 players who made the cut at the 107th Western Amateur Wednesday at Conway Farms Country Club in Lake Forest, Ill.

At -5, Illini sophomore Luke Guthrie is within one stroke of the lead in a tie for second. Senior teammate Zach Barlow, who was tied for first after 18 holes, is tied for fifth at -3 after firing a one-over par 72 on the 7,216-yard par 71 Conway Farms Course. Junior Scott Langley had the best round of the day with a five-under par 66 and is tied for 12th at one-over par. Sophomore Mason Jacobs is tied for 23rd at +3 after shooting 70 in round two.

The field was trimmed to 44 players midway through stroke play. The competitors will shoot 36 holes on Thursday with the top 16 headed for match play on Friday. Oklahoma State's Kevin Tway leads the tournament at -6.
