WIMBLEDON, England- Former Illini Kevin Anderson and Rajeev Ram are both set to compete in the gentlemen's doubles draw of Wimbledon, with their respective partners, at the All England Club this week. First round doubles action for both former Illini is set for Wednesday, June 24.
Anderson, along with partner Somdev Devvarman (IND), qualified for the gentlemen's doubles main draw and face No. 4-seed Mahesh Bhupathi (IND) and Mark Knowles (BAH) in the opening round. Their match is the first match on Court 17 with a 12 p.m. local time start.
Ram will partner up with Lovro Zovko of Croatia for this year's Wimbledon gentlemen's doubles main draw. The Ram/Zovko duo take on No. 11-seed Marcelo Melo and Andre Sa, both of Brazil in the first round. Ram is currently ranked 66th in the world in the latest ATP doubles rankings. Their match is the second match on court 19 with a 12 p.m. local start.
Meanwhile, in the first round of the gentlemen's singles draw, Ram fell to Germany's Phillip Petzschner, 2-6, 6-1, 7-6 (3), 6-1. It was Ram's first career appearance in the singles main draw at the All England Club.
