Pre-Qualifying Doubles Results 
PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Illini senior Megan Fudge and junior Leigh Finnegan are set to begin play tomorrow (Oct. 6) in the qualifying singles bracket of the 2009 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships in Pacific Palisades, Calif. The pair received automatic bids into the bracket.
Preseason No. 42 Fudge will take on No. 55 Alexandra Poorta of St. Mary's College of California, while No. 78 Finnegan drew No. 31 and eighth-seeded Jelena Stanivuk of Baylor in the first round of the two-day event.
In the tournament's pre-qualifying bracket on Saturday (Oct. 3), sophomore Chelcie Abajian defeated Nives Pavlovic (UNLV), 7-6 (5), 6-2, before falling to Florida's Claire Bartlett, 6-4, 6-1 the following day. Freshman Rachael White rallied to defeat Mary Beth Winingham (Dartmouth), 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 in her opening round match, but was later defeated by Duke's Monica Gorny, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
In pre-qualifying doubles action, Finnegan and White topped TCU's Kayla Duncan and Katariina Tuohimaa, 8-6 in the first round, before dropping a hard-fought match to Florida State's Lauren Macfarlane and Federica Suess, 8-6. Abajian and Fudge cruised to an 8-0 victory over Alabama's Paulina Bigos and Taylor Lindsey, but then fell in the second round to UNLV's Kristina Nedeltcheva and Pavlovic, 8-3.
