Day Two Complete Results in PDF Format

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - The Illinois men's tennis team continued their impressive play on the second day of the 2008 Olympia Fields Fighting Illini Invitational. The Orange and Blue picked up 10 wins in singles, with juniors Jordan Knue and Meedo El Tabakh both going 2-0 on the day.

El Tabakh notched his first victory of the day in a grueling match against Texas' Jon Wiegand. The Tampa, Fla., native and Wiegand battled through two set tiebreakers. In the end, El Tabakh prevailed, taking the match 7-6 (7), 7-6 (6). In his second singles' match of the day, El Tabakh rolled, 6-0, 6-4, over Florida State's Chris Cloer. With the victory, El Tabakh improved to a perfect 3-0 in singles at the invitational.

Knue improved to 5-0 at the Olympia Fields Invitational after notching a couple singles victories on day two. The Western Springs, Ill., native picked up his first win in a morning match against Texas' Jonah Kane-West, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. Knue then rolled through his afternoon match, 6-4, 6-1, over Josh Zavala (TEX).

Sophomore Roy Kalmanovich added another win for the Illini, dispatching Texas' Olivier Sajous in three sets, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3. Freshman Ruan Roelofse, along with sophomores Abe Souza, Calon Alpar, and Waylon Chin, all added a singles victory for the Illini on the day. In the final match of day two, junior Billy Heiser knocked off Florida State's Andrew Bailey, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.

The Illini conclude action at the Olympia Fields Fighting Illini Invitational tomorrow with matches set to begin at 9 a,m., Admission to the event is free.
