URBANA, Ill. - Former Illini shortstop Angelena Mexicano is featured in the Faces in the Crowd section of Sports Illustrated's Sept. 22 issue. The section on page 28 of the magazine highlights Mexicano's achievements during her career in the Orange and Blue, as she shattered many school records in addition to the Big Ten single-season home run record.

Mexicano was one of the leading hitters in the nation during the 2008 season. She ranked second nationally in home runs with 24, fifth in runs per game (1.05) and 10th in slugging percentage (.821). The San Jose, Calif., native broke school records for career and single-season home runs, RBIs, runs scored and total bases.
