Second Round Results in PDF Format

Zionsville, Ind. - The Fighting Illini men's golf team is tied for fourth after 36 holes of the season-opening Wolf Run Invitational in suburban Indianapolis. The Illini shot identical rounds of 298 on the 7,165-yard par 71 course Saturday. The final round is slated for Sunday.

Michigan leads the 13-team tournament at 580 followed by Louisville (583) and Kentucky (591). Illinois is tied with 20th-ranked Indiana for fourth at 596.

Junior Zach Barlow (70-76-146) is in seventh place individually. Barlow was tied for the lead after round one following a one-under par 70. Indiana All-American Jorge Campillo leads the way at 140 with a pair of 70s followed by Bill Rankin of Michigan (142) and Adam Hadwin of Louisville (142).

Everyone on the Illinois team was a counter in at least one round. Freshman Mason Jacobs, making his collegiate debut, improved by five shots from round one to round two with rounds of 79 and 74. Junior Matt Hoffman did the same with rounds of 78 and 73. Hoffman is tied for 29th at 151 followed closely by sophomore Chris DeForest (77-75) at 152 and Jacobs and sophomore Scott Langley (73-80) at 153.

This is Illinois' final tune-up before one of the premier tournaments of the fall next week - the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational.
