The University of Illinois women's basketball team will spend this Thanksgiving in sunny Cancun, Mexico. Coach Jolette Law and the Fighting Illini will play in the 2008 Cancun Caribbean Challenge along with Maryland, Montana and South Dakota State, Nov. 26-28.
It will be a three-game round robin format and all games will be played at the luxurious Moon Palace Resort in Cancun. Seating space for games will be limited and only individuals buying the TCS Fan Package will be guaranteed admission. Others will be admitted on an as available basis. The Moon Palace which is an all-inclusive resort that will not allow access onto the resort property without staying at the resort.

Illinois is coming off a 20-win season in Law's first year at the helm and advanced to the championship game of the Big Ten Tournament before falling at the buzzer to Purdue. All-American center Jenna Smith and starters Lacey Simpson and Chelsea Gordon return to lead a big and talented crop of newcomers in 2008-09.
