DeHeart Into Third Round of US Open Qualifier

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Former Illini Ryler DeHeart defeated Woong-Sun Jen of Korea in the second round of the US Open qualifier tournament in Flushing Meadows, N.Y., at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center today. DeHeart dominated the first set, then dropped the second set tiebreaker, forcing a third set.

In the third set thriller, DeHeart and Jen battled back and forth, before DeHeart prevailed taking the third set and the match, 6-1, 6-7 (4), 7-5. With the victory, DeHeart is one win away from entering his first US Open main draw.

The qualifier's No. 54 seed DeHeart will face No. 50 Diego Hartfield of Argentina in the third and final round. First serve tomorrow, Aug. 22, is set for 11 a.m. ET on Court 10.
