Match Against North Carolina Cancelled

PALMAS HUMACAO, Puerto Rico - The No. 61-ranked Illinois women's tennis team's match against ACC powerhouse, No. 11 North Carolina, was cancelled today due to heavy rain at the Villas in Palmas Humacao, Puerto Rice, announced Illinois head coach Michelle Dasso. The match has not been rescheduled.

As of now, Illinois will finish its trip to Puerto Rico with a match against Princeton on Thursday, March 20, at 9 a.m. CT, before returning to the states to take on Big Ten foe Michigan State on Sunday, March 23 in East Lansing, Mich., to end its break festivities.

The Illini (5-5) are coming off a hard-fought loss to No. 23 Notre Dame, while Princeton (6-5) and Illinois will meet for the first time in history during their Thursday contest. The Spartans (8-5) will be opening Big Ten play the March 22-23 weekend, first hosting Purdue before Illinois comes to town on Sunday.

Illinois' match against Princeton will not offer live scoring from Puerto Rico, but a full recap will be available on the official home of Illinois women's tennis, fightingillini.com, as soon as scores are reported. A full recap of the match against Michigan State also will be available following the conclusion of the match, with live scoring also not offered for the dual in East Lansing.
