CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -Trent Meacham and Mike Tisdale each scored 15 points to lead Illinois past Detroit 82-51 on Saturday.
Meacham and Tisdale combined to shoot 12-for-14 from the field to help Illinois (10-1) shake off a nine-day break. Meacham made all five of his shots, including three from 3-point range as the Illini shot 64.4 percent (29-45) to overcome a season-high 20 turnovers against the Titans (3-7).
Illinois scored on six of its first seven possessions of the game and went on a 10-0 run. The Illini held Detroit scoreless for a five minute stretch in the first half to build a 34-26 lead at the intermission.
Illinois broke the game open with an 18-2 run to start the second half.
Thomas Kennedy scored 17 points and Chris Hayes added nine for Detroit, which shot 39.2 percent and turned the ball over 18 times.
