Illinois had a much more consistent day on Monday in round two of the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational. The Illini shot a six-over par 294 to move to 11th in the 18-team field, which includes 13 ranked teams.
Illinois has a chance to move up in the final round, sitting only one stroke behind 10th place Clemson and two strokes behind both Stanford and Oklahoma State, two top-ten ranked teams nationally.
Third-ranked and defending tournament champion Georgia had a big day firing an 11-under par 277 to take over the top spot at five-under par, three strokes ahead of second-place Indiana (-2). First-round leader Alabama is third at +2 followed by USC (+3) and Texas Tech (+10).
Illinois sophomore Scott Langley shot his second straight even par round of 72 with three birdies on the back nine. Langley is tied for 12th at even par overall. Georgia's Russell Henley leads the player leaderboard at -6 after a second-round 67, one stroke ahead of Indiana's Jorge Campillo (-5).
The four counters for Illinois all shot 75 or better on Monday. Junior Matt Hoffman had four birdies in a round of 75 and is 20th at +3. Junior Zach Barlow recovered with a second-round 73 and sits +10 for the tournament, tied for 66th. Sophomore Chris DeForest is tied for 51st at +7 after a second-round 74. Junior Clayton Parkhill shot 79 and is tied for 85th at +15.
The final 18 holes is scheduled for Tuesday.
