CRYSTAL RIVER, Fla. - Illinois junior Seul Ki Park shot a 77 on Saturday in the second and final round of the Cincinnati Spring Invitational in Crystal River, Fla., to finish in second place overall. Illinois fired a 312 on day two, equaling the second-lowest team round of the day, for a 36-hole total of 632 to finish in fifth place overall.
Park, who led after the first round yesterday, had a two-day total of 151 at the par 72 Plantation Inn Golf Course to finish alone in second behind medalist P. Phol-uayporn of Florida Atlantic (146). Junior Stephanie Mory carded a 78 on Saturday for a total of 160, good for 18th place overall. Junior Casey Burden had the low Illini round of day two, firing a 76, to move up 21 places to 25th with a total of 163.
Junior Kristin Kallergis was Illinois' fourth counting score on Saturday with an 81. She finished tied for 28th overall (83-81=164). Senior Meghan Naik struggled to an 85 on day two, finishing tied for 35th overall (81-85=166), while junior Kristine Cook, playing as an individual, shot an 86 for a 36-hole total of 165 and a tie for 32nd.
Florida Atlantic (620) won a tight team race, edging out Princeton University (622) and Middle Tennessee State (626). Host Cincinnati finished in fourth, just ahead of the Illini, with a 628.
Illinois will now return home to Champaign-Urbana after spending the week in Florida during spring break practicing and competing. The Fighting Illini will prepare for their lone home tournament of the season, the Illini Spring Classic, held April 6-7 at Stone Creek Golf Club in Urbana.
