Amy Palash Final Blog

Nov. 29, 2007

Champaign, Ill. - Well...this is it. The final blog. I apologize if this one is a little long, but I have so much to say! It's taken me a while to write this, because expressing my feelings at this point is extremely difficult. Twelve years of volleyball came to an end this past weekend, and senior night was the most bittersweet experience I've ever experienced. I will miss the sport greatly, and seeing all the families, friends, and fans come out to support the three of us at our last match was heartwarming.

It has been a rollercoaster season, as our team went through many ups and downs, both on the court and off. The one thing that stands out was our ability to always stick together, no matter what the circumstances. I want to thank my teammates for being my support system away from home. I have made some great friends in my short year and a half here, and I will never forget you. I also want to thank the coaches, because they have given me the opportunity to play Big Ten volleyball and attend an amazing university. I am eternally grateful.

I would also like to thank the amazing fans. Aaron, the leader of the Spike Squad, has done an amazing job sticking with us through the ups and downs of the season. Also, my little "boyfriend" Connor. You are the most adorable fan I've ever had! Our managers and practice players have also done so much work behind the scenes; they put so many hours in and they're always good for a laugh!

I would also like to say thank you to my fellow seniors; Vicki and Alde, you are amazing people. It's been an honor being your teammate, and more importantly, your friend. I will never forget either of you and I can't wait to see the amazing things that life brings you.

Finally, I'd like to thank my family. You have all done so much for me and I wouldn't be here without you. You are my rock, and I love you all so much!

Well, that's it for me. Although I may not miss the 6:45 AM practices (I'm not exactly a "morning person"), I will certainly miss the experience. Thank you all for being a part of that, I will cherish the memories forever.
