- Today marks the third time this season the Illini defense has given up two or fewer touchdowns, also allowing 14 points at Indiana on Sept. 22 and shutting out Western Illinois on Sept. 8.
- Jason Reda was 2-for-2 on field goals today, including a 46-yarder in the first quarter. He is now 9-for-9 on FGs this season, including 5-for-5 from 40 yards or more.
- Butkus Award candidate J Leman continued his defensive dominance, notching 10 tackles against the Hawkeyes. Leman now has reached double figures in tackles in six of seven games this season.
- Wide receiver Arrelious Benn's 87 receiving yards are a new career high, surpassing his 84 receiving yards against Penn State on Sept. 29. His 33-yard catch in the fourth quarter also marked a new career-long grab, besting the 29-yard reception he had against Penn State.
- Illinois' two fourth-down stops of Iowa in the first quarter marked the seventh and eighth times this season the Illini have stopped an opponent on fourth down. It is the third time in 2007 that Illinois has thwarted two fourth-down tries in a single game, also stopping Indiana and Western Illinois twice each on fourth downs.
- The Illini's first drive of the third quarter was the longest of the year in terms of time, chewing up 6:01 of the clock. The previous longest drive came against Penn State and lasted 5:44.
- With his 41 yards rushing today, Juice Williams moved into third place on the record list for single-season rushing yards by a QB. His 319 yards on the ground this year are 111 behind Tim Brasic's total of 420 from 2005 for second place.
- Linebackers Brit Miller and Antonio Steele each recorded season-highs in tackles today, with 11 and nine, respectively. Miller's 11 stops were one shy of tying his career high of 12, which came against Northwestern in 2005. Defensive tackle David Lindquist tied his career high with six tackles, equaling his total against Purdue in 2006.
- Doak Walker Award candidate Rashard Mendenhall's 67 yards give him 1,697 career yards and move him up to 15th on the all-time rushing list, surpassing J.C. Caroline's 1,696 career yards.
