Illinois meets Dayton Tuesday
The Fighting Illini take on the Dayton Flyers Tuesday night at Huff Hall. First serve is at 7 p.m.

Series Notes: The Flyers and Illini have meet four times, with the last meeting coming in 1979, when the two teams split matches at the DePaul Invitational. The Illini defeated the Flyers 15-8, 15-8 in its only meeting in Champaign.
Brown continues hot hitting: Vicki Brown, who entered last week ranked 15th in the nation in hitting percentage at .462, hit .430 during the UNC Invitational.
Another defending conference champ on tap: Of the 10 teams on Illinois' non-conference slate, six won their conference last year. Dayton won the Atlantic Ten in 2005. Illinois has already met defending Southern Conference champion College of Charleston and Missouri Valley champ Wichita State, ACC titlist North Carolina and Winthrop and UW-Milwaukee, winners of the Big South and Horizon Leagues, respectively.
More on Dayton: Dayton has played a challenging non-conference schedule, which as included four matches against ranked opponents. The Flyers defeated No. 18 Arizona in straight games, the highest ranked opponent they have beaten in team history.
• Dayton comes into the match 7-3, with all three of its losses coming to ranked opponents, including a 3-2 loss to No. 14 Purdue. The Flyers have also fallen to No. 12 Louisville 3-1 and No. 22 LSU (3-1) and have victories over Indiana (3-0) and Wake Forest (3-0)

Thanks to 3,129 fans vs. Illinois State on Aug. 25, the Illini are ranked fourth in the nation in attendance on the young season. The Illini average 2,345 fans for their two dates, ranking only behind Hawaii, Nebraska and Wisconsin

Lizzie Bazzetta is 15th nationally in assists at 13.33 assists per game. Illinois also ranks 13th nationally in aces per game (2.9). The rankingss are as of Sept. 6. The complete rankings can be found on page four.
Big Ten off to big start: Through three weeks of the regular season, five Big Ten teams are still undefeated, while three more have just one loss. The teams are a combined 75-14 (.843). Five teams are currently ranked in the Top 25 -- No. 2 Penn State, No. 11 Wisconsin, No. 14 Purdue, No. 15 Ohio State, and No. 22 Michigan. Tuesday night's opponent Dayton is fifth on those also receiving votes with 28.
Alde, Brown named to All-Tournament Team
Stephanie Alde and Vicki Brown were named to the All-Tournament team at the Carolina Volleyball Classic. Alde hit .632 in the win over North Carolina and 42 kills for the weekend. Brown had 46 kills and hit .430.
