CHAMPAIGN, Ill. ­ - The ITA Midwest Regional Championships draws were announced today, with five Illini, junior Alejandra Meza Cuadra, sophomore Shivani Davé and freshmen Leigh Finnegan, Megan Fudge and Kristina Minor opening play on Thursday, Oct. 19. Junior Momei Qu, the final Orange and Blue contender for Illinois this weekend, opens play on Saturday, Oct. 21, in the singles main draw in East Lansing, Mich., at the MSU Indoor Facility.

Match play for the qualifying draw will begin each day at 8 a.m. (CST), with two rounds played on Thursday, and the final two rounds to be played on Friday. The Illini are vying for eight positions, or a spot in the quarterfinals of the qualifying bracket, that will advance into the main draw of the Midwest Regionals. Draws for the main draw in doubles and singles will be announced Thursday and Friday, respectively.

Opening-round matches include, No. 1-4-seeded Finnegan against Heather Harding of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, No. 9-12-seeded Fudge against Kim Robert of Michigan, Davé against Julie Voss of Ohio State, Meza Cuadra against Tiffany Foster of Wichita State and Minor against Kylie Moore of Marquette.
