CHICAGO, Ill. - The second-ranked Fighting Illini men's gymnastics team finished second at the 36th annual Windy City Invite hosted by the University of Illinois-Chicago Saturday evening. The Illini finished with 210.500 points, just behind No. 2 Ohio State's total of 211.650. No. 6 Michigan was third with 207.400, followed by No. 9 Iowa (205.800), No. 8 Minnesota (203.900) and No. 14 UIC (197.350).

"We're certainly thin as far as depth," said Illini head coach Yoshi Hayaskai, now in his 30th season. "We're not at full strength with a few guys injured. Overall, I thought we performed well. We had some good events and we had some bad events. I have to congratulate Ohio State, they did a very good job."

Sophomore Wes Haagensen was the only Illini to take home an event title. Haagensen, who placed second in the all-around at last year's Windy City Invite tied for first place on the vault with a score of 9.400, besting his previous career-high vault of 9.300 which he set at last year's Windy City Invite.

Pommel horse specialist, senior Ted Brown finished second in the event with an 8.950. Sophomore Tyler Yamauchi finished in third with an 8.900.

2005 NCAA parallel bars champion Justin Spring finished second on the p-bars with a 9.450 and third on high bar with a 9.250.

The Illini will return to action next Saturday, when they face No. 8 Minnesota at Huff Hall.
