
Illini Lead Springlake Intercollegiate After First Round

Sebring, Fla. - The Illinois women's golf team sits in first place out of 20 teams after the first round of the 36-hole Springlake Intercollegiate, hosted by Northern Illinois at the par 72, 5,850-yard Springlake Golf Resort in Sebring, Fla. The Illini shot a team score of 309 to take the lead by two strokes over High Point (311). There is a three-way tie for third between Bowling Green, Creighton and Mercer, who trail the Illini by six shots (315).
Illinois has three golfers in the Top 20 of the individual standings, after all three recorded rounds in the 70s today. Junior Megan Godfrey is in a three-way tie atop the leaderboard after shooting a 2-over par score of 74. This marked Godfrey's 14th round in the 70s out of 18 rounds on the season. She is tied with Creighton's Leigh Sutton and High Point's Kate O'Sullivan for first out of the 110-player field.
Freshman Casey Burden tied her season-low round with a 3-over par score of 75 today. She is tied fourth place overall. Fellow freshman Kristine Cook is tied for 19th place after recording a 7-over par 79. Illinois' fourth and final team score today came from freshman Seul Ki Park, who shot an 81.
The second and final round of the NIU Springlake Intercollegiate will be held on Saturday,
