Final Stats

West Lafayette, Ind. - Tiffanie Guthrie had 16 points and Angelina Williams added 15, but it was not enough as the Illini fell to #5 Purdue, 65-49, in West Lafayette, Ind., on Thursday.

Cindy Dallas had seven points and 15 rebounds, giving Dallas 970 rebounds for her career, moving her past Jessi Stomski and Kristen Rasmussen and tying Jill Chapman for sixth on the Big Ten's all-time career rebounding list.

Illinois uncharacteristically had 23 turnovers on the night after having just nine against Minnesota and eight in the win over Northwestern. Illinois also shot just 33.9 percent for the game, including a 28.1 percent in the first half.

Purdue jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but the Illini battled back all half and trailed 28-19 at the break. The Illinois defense was tough in the first half, holding Purdue to just 28 percent in the first half. Williams scored 11 of Illinois' 19 points in the first half.

The Boilermakers broke out just after halftime and out-scored Illinois, 14-4 in the first 3:31 to take a commanding 42-23 lead. To the Illini's credit, they made some runs at the Boilermakers, but Purdue senior Shereka Wright halted nearly every one. Wright had 14 of her game-high 18 points in the second half as Purdue improved to 22-2 overall, 12-1 in the Big Ten.

Ten different Purdue players reached the scoring column. Freshman Katie Gearalds was the only other Purdue player in double figures with 11. Purdue also out-scored Illinois, 17-8 from the line.

For the third time this season Illinois had 10 blocks in a game, one off the school record. Williams and Guthrie had two apiece giving Illinois 112 for the season. The Illini need 25 to tie the school-record for blocks in a season set in 2001-02.

The Illini take a 10-14 overall record and 4-9 Big Ten mark into Columbus, Ohio, on Sunday to meet Ohio State. The game is at Noon CST and can be seen on FoxSportNet Chicago.
