
Illini tied for sixth place at Badger Invitational

Madison, WI. - Battling rain throughout the day, the Illini currently stand in sixth place at the Badger Invitational, hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The Illini began play at 8 a.m this morning, completing round one, which was suspended yesterday due to rain. After the completion of round one, round two play immediately began, but was once again suspended at 1:30 p.m. due stormy weather, and will be competed tomorrow, Sunday, September 14. However, because of the continuous weather problem, the invitational will be shortened from 54 to 36 holes.
The Illini are currently tied for sixth place with Minnesota, while Michigan State is in first. Leading the way for the Illini is sophomore Megan Godfrey, who is tied for 12th-place at 9-over par. Godfrey completed her first round with a 79, and is currently 2-over par after nine holes on the suspended second-round. Junior Lyndsey Milligan completed her first-round with a score of 80, and stands in a tie for 17th place, as she is 3-over par after eight holes in round two play.
Round two is set to resume tomorrow, Sunday September 14, at 9 a.m. Round three of the 2003 Badger Invitational has been cancelled in order to allow sufficient return travel time for visiting teams. The final results will be available tomorrow after the finish of the second and final round.
