
Illinois Finishes Sixth At Badger Invitational

Verona, Wis. - The Illini women's golf team finished in sixth place at the Badger Invitational, held at the par 72, 6,025-yard University Ridge Golf Course in Verona, Wis. Illinois shot rounds of 323 and 320 for a two-round score of 643. Michigan State won the nine-team tournament with a winning score of 608. The Invitational, originally scheduled for 54 holes of competition, was shortened to 36 holes due to constant rain and weather delays throughout the weekend.
Leading the way for the Illini was sophomore Megan Godfrey. Godfrey, who competed in just four tournaments with Illinois during her freshman campaign last season, recorded the first Top-10 finish of her collegiate career by placing ninth at 11-over par. Godfrey carded rounds of 79 and 76 to pace the Illini during both rounds of play and finish with a score of 155.
Senior Marla Cox finished tied for 17th place with a score of 161, while junior Lyndsey Milligan had a career-best finish, tying for 24th place with a total score of 163. Rounding out the Illini lineup, senior Michelle Carroll tied for 26th (164) and freshman Meghan Naik tied for 38th (174).
Illinois is next in action Sept. 20-21 at the Mary Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich.
