Indianapolis, Ind. - Michigan used a 23-0 run midway through the second half to pull away from Illinois, 83-59. The Wolverines led 52-48 with 11:54 left. The Illini then went scoreless for nearly eight minutes and the Wolverines took a 75-48 lead.

Angelina Williams scored 19 points to pace Illinois. Tiffanie Guthrie scored 11 points, all in the first half. Cindy Dallas had 10 points and stands just two points shy of 1,000 for her career.

Michigan used the inside tandem of Jennifer Smith (22 points, 12 rebounds) and LeeAnn Bies (21 points, 7 rebounds) to dominate the inside. Guard Nicki Reams added 17 points for Michigan (13-15), who advances to meet Purdue on Friday night.

The game was tight throughout the first half. Neither team led by more than three until Michigan took a 33-29 lead with 37 seconds to play. The first half had nine ties and 18 lead changes.

Illinois came out with a spark in the second half and took a brief 36-35 lead off a basket from Cindy Dallas off a steal from Aminata Yanni.Michigan took the lead back after a timeout and the game remained close until the Wolverine run.

The Illini were out-rebounded 41-29, including a 22-13 edge in the second half. Illinois falls to 17-11 overall.
