The Fighting Illini finished the exhibition season tonight with an 83-63 victory over the Spotlight Jammers. Illinois offered a balanced scoring attack for the crowd of 14,151, featuring four players in double-figures led by Sophomore James Augustine's 18 points and nine rebounds.
Sophomore Dee Brown had another solid performance with 15 points, seven assists and three steals. Freshman Brian Randle enjoyed a breakout performance hitting 5-7 from the field for 11 points and five rebounds. Deron Williams contributed with eight points and eight assists, while Roger Powell added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Illinois struggled with the Jammers through most of the first half . The Jammers shot 52 percent in the first half and pulled to within five at the break. But the Illini had too much underneath as the they wore down the Jammers in the second half, dominating the boards (42-to-26) and held them to 29 percent shooting.
Illinois begins the regular season Nov. 22 at the Assembly Hall against the Western Illinois at 7 p.m.
