The Fighting Illini women's tennis team wrapped up its second day of competition at the San Diego State Invitational with some impressive results. At least one Illinois player will be involved in each of the four singles championship matches; the Illini will also be represented in championship round of both doubles flights.

The Illini dominated once again in the singles rounds of today's action. In Flight "A," senior Jennifer McGaffigan advanced to tomorrow's championship match against Dita Haauerlandova of San Diego State by winning today over her SDSU opponent. Senior Tiffany Eklov bounced back from yesterday's loss to win and advance to the finals in the consolation bracket of Flight "A". In Flight "B," Sunday's championship contest will be between Illini teammates Cynthya Goulet and Isabel Jarosz. Sophomore Brianna Knue will represent the Illini in the Flight "C" championship against Pepperdine's Lisa Sissler. She advanced after a decisive win over her opponent from the University of San Diego. In Flight "D," freshman Emily Wang had another impressive showing today after defeating her opponent from San Diego State University in straight sets.

The Fighting Illini were able to get teams into the finals of both doubles flights. In Flight "A" Isabel Jarosz and Tiffany Eklov won a close 9-7 match over a team from San Diego State. They will face No. 44 Indra Erichsen and Katalina Romero, also from the host school. Isabel Jarosz and Brianna Knue moved into Flight "A" consolation bracket and dropped their match to a duo from Arkansas. In Flight "B," Leila Cehajic and Pavlina Akritas fell in the championship match to their foes from Pepperdine.

The tournament will conclude tomorrow with the championship matches of Singles Flights "C" and "D" beginning at 10 a.m. CT and Flights "A" and "B" at 11:30 a.m. CT. The Final round of Doubles Flight "A" will begin at 11:30 a.m. CT.
