Aminata Yanni scored 22 points to pace the Illini in the Orange & Blue Scrimmage for the Illini women's basketball team. Yanni also made the decisive free throw to lift the Orange over the Blue, 46-45 in a 40-minute affair with the running clock.

Yanni made 9 of 15 from the field and three three-pointers to pace the team. Yanni and Angelina Williams ran the floor well and offered several impressive offensive moments. Williams finished with a team-high six assists to go along with 11 points. Tiffanie Guthrie also reached double figures with 10 points.

"It was great for everyone, especially the freshman to get on the Assembly Hall floor," said Head Coach Theresa Grentz.

Among the freshman, Missy Mitidiero paced the group with nine points, including three triples. The Illini nailed 10 treys on the day, continuing a trend from last year when the Illini made a school-record 171 treys during the season. Freshman forward Erin Wigley had eight points and three assists against just one turnover.

Allison Guth, who earned a scholarship for her senior season, netted five points including a three-pointer. Junior Tiffanie Guthrie showed her versatility by recording a game-high nine rebounds.

"We have a ways to go there's no question," added Grentz. "But we there were a lot of good things tonight. Each game we play is a barometer and looking back on the last few seasons, we're farther along then we have been."
