  • Eugene Wilson's 21 yard punt return broke the Illinois all-time punt return yardage record (757), which was previously held by Darryl Usher (756) from 1985-1987.

  • Quarterback Jon Beutjer had a 300-yard passing game today. It was the first of his career at Illinois. It was also the first 300-plus game for an Illini since Kurt Kittner vs. Northwestern (387) on 11/22/01.

  • Beutjer finished with 426 passing yards. This was the first 400-plus passing game for an Illinois quarterback since Kurt Kittner threw for 401 yards against Wisconsin on 10/20/01

  • Quarterback Jon Beutjer threw four touchdown passes for the second consecutive game.

  • Receiver Walter Young had the 5th l00-plus yard receiving game of his career with his eight catch, 153 yard performance today.

  • Two Illinois players, Brandon Lloyd and Walter Young, made key touchdown receptions for their career records today. Lloyd at 16 moves into second on the career list TD receptions list. Young at 11 moves to eighth on the list.

  • Tony Pashos made his 39th career start. This puts him at number ten on the Illinois records list.

  • Illinois' Aaron Moorehead made his 9th career touchdown in the fourth quarter. He is 10th in the all-time list for touchdown receptions.

  • Moorehead's seven catches were a career high. His previous high was six against Penn State in 2000. He had 118 yards receiving on the day, the fourth 100-plus game of his career.

  • San Jose State's Lamar Ferguson tied a school record for most rushing touchdowns in a game with four.

  • San Jose State had two interceptions in the game. The team has 10 interceptions in four games this season.

  • San Jose State cornerback Gerald Jones' first-half interception was his fifth of the season. He came into the game tied for the national lead.

  • San Jose State finished the game with zero turnovers for the first time this season. The Spartans came into the game committing an average of 4.3 turnovers a game.

  • San Jose State quarterback Scott Rislov finished the game with a season-best 426 yards passing.

  • San Jose State wide receiver Kendrick Starling had the first 100 yard receiving game of his major-college career. He finished with seven catches for 167 yards
