The Illinois-Purdue women's soccer match that was postponed on Friday, Oct. 18 has been rescheduled for Sunday, November 3 at 5 p.m. The game will be played at Illinois Soccer Field in Champaign, Ill.
On Oct. 18, the two teams met and were tied 1-1 in the 48th minute when the game was suspended due to lighting and heavy rain. After nearly an hour and a half of waiting out the storm, the officials and coaches decided to postpone the game and make it up on another date. When the two teams meet again on Nov. 3, the game will be played in its entirety.
The matchup could have Big Ten Tournament implications for Illinois. The Illini can clinch a spot in the conference tournament with a win over Iowa this Friday night. However, if they slip up against the Hawkeyes, UI will need a win over Purdue to make the tournament field, which begins November 7 in East Lansing, Michigan.
Note: The game time is set for 5 p.m. instead of the usual Sunday starting time of 2 p.m. because of the Chicago Bears-Philadelphia Eagles game that will be taking place on campus at noon that day.
