Urbana, Ill. - Illinois basketball coaches Bill Self and Theresa Grentz are the local honorary co-chairpersons of the Red Ribbon campaign, which kicked off Friday in Urbana. The coaches participated in a balloon launch at Stone Creek Golf Club and also spoke to kids about avoiding the dangers of drugs and alcohol.

Illini players Sean Harrington, Clayton Thomas, and Aminata Yanni shared their thoughts to the kids from Paxton, Loda, and Georgetown. The Illini players and coaches also took time to sign autographs.

The Red Ribbon Campaign, which runs October 19-27, is sponsored by the Prairie Center Health Systems in Champaign-Urbana. The campaign promotes an anti-drug and alcohol message.
