URBANA, Ill. -- Sophomore Geoff Lound shot a 1-under par 71 in the final round of the 2001 Big Ten Men's Golf Championship at the par 72, 7,118-yard Stone Creek Golf Club. He finished the tournament tied for 11th with a total of 1-under 287 in the 72-hole event. He tied D.A. Points and Jamie Fairbanks for the 12th best 72-hole total in school history. His great rounds throughout the season earned him a spot on the All-Big Ten Team.
Freshman Ryan Tendall shot an even par 72 in the final round to finish the tournament 33rd with a 295. Tim Riley carded a four round score of 297 to tie for 37th. Tony Peressini shot a 299 to finish 43rd. Ryan Moore recorded a 304 to finish 48th.
The Illini wrapped-up the season with a 10th place finish. The young squad recorded a team total of 1173, which was the eighth best total ever carded by an Illinois team. Northwestern won its third consecutive team title with an 1132, which was one stroke shy of the Big Ten Championship record they set in 1999.
