URBANA, Ill.-- University of Illinois freshman Ryan Tendall shot a 1-over par 73 at the 72-par, 7,118-yard Stone Creek Golf Club in Urbana today to pace the Illinois squad. Tendall tied with Luke Donald and Tom Johnson of Northwestern for first place at the one-round University of Illinois Triangular.
Sophomore Geoff Lound was Illinois second-highest finisher. He tied for sixth place with a 75. Freshman Ryan Moore shot 77 strokes to tie for eighth place. Freshman Tony Peressini finished 13th with a 79. Both Tim Riley and Evan Olson shot rounds of 80 today to tie for 14th.
In team scoring, the host Illini fell just short of their competitors. Northwestern and Wisconsin tied for first with team totals of 301. Illinois finished with a team score of 304 strokes.
The Illini are in action again on April 6-7 at the Marshall Invitational. They will return to Stone Creek to host the Big Ten Men's Golf Championship May 4-6.
