CHICAGO, Ill. -- Sophomore Cindy Dallas went 7-8 from the floor and a perfect 3-3 from the line scoring 17 points while also leading the Illini with 10 rebounds, but it was not enough as DePaul handed the Illini their second road loss of the season, 69-62.
Dallas' second straight double-double was overshadowed by the outstanding play of DePaul's Lenae Williams. She hit 15 of her 29 shots from the field to score a game-high 39 points.
"She's an excellent player," head coach Theresa Grentz said in response to Williams' performance. "Their goal was to run the clock down to nine seconds and get the ball to Lenae Williams, and it worked."
As for the play of the Illini Grentz added: "We need to be more patient offensively. Angelina Williams did well. I thought her play was excellent. We just rushed a lot of passes, were impatient and weren't as focused as we should be, and turnovers were a big factor tonight."
The Illini turned the ball over 20 times compared to just seven mishaps for the Blue Demons. DePaul scored 14 points off of the Illinois turnovers.
Iveta Marcauskaite added 16 points for the Illini while Dawn Vana scored nine points and grabbed eight boards. Chicago-native Angelina Williams recorded eight points and five rebounds. Shavonna Hunter also scored eight for the Illini.
The Blue Demons took a one-point, 28-27, lead into the halftime break. A Dallas free-throw with 9:42 remaining tied the game at 50, but Williams came back with a three to give the Blue Demons the lead for good.
After falling to 3-2 overall, Illinois comes home for the first time this season hosting Illinois State at Assembly Hall Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
