No. 70 Jennifer McGaffigan was thwarted in her bid for a spot in the consolation singles final when she lost her semi-final match today at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Riviera All-American Tournament in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
McGaffigan, who had earned her berth in the All-American main draw by virtue of her singles championship in the collegiate summer circuit two months ago, fell, 6-1, 6-0 to No. 21 Julie DeRoo of Duke.
McGaffigan will rejoin her teammates in Champaign as they prepare for their next competition, the ITA Midwest Regional Championships, which take place at West Lafayette, Ind., Oct. 25-30.
