Men's gymnastics defeats seventh-ranked Gophers, 222.250-220.325.

MINNEAPOLIS - The second-ranked Illinois men's gymnastics team edged past the No. 7 Minnesota 222.250-220.325 Saturday afternoon in a Big Ten dual meet in Minneapolis. With the win, the Illini improve to 6-2 overall and 4-2 in the conference.

Senior Travis Romagnoli (Aurora, Ontario) won the all-around with a mark of 55.30, while also taking first on vault (9.60) and high bar (9.70) and second on pommel horse (9.50). Junior Linh Hoang (Houston, Texas) tied Romagnoli's score of 9.60 on vault for first place and posted a 9.35 on rings for first.

Sophomore Sean-Paul Crawford (Buena Park, California) tied for second on floor and rings with scores of 9.45 and 9.25, respectively. Junior Jonathan Ham (Northridge, California) placed second on floor (9.45), while true-freshman Nathan Torres (Albuequerque, New Mexico) tied for second on rings with a 9.25.

The Illini will open their home season on January 29 at Huff Hall when they host Michigan State in a co-ed, dual conference meet. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
