1. Rocky Harvey's 34-yard TD run was only the second first-quarter TD allowed by the Penn State defense this year. PSU has out-scored the opposition 69-20 in the first quarter.
2. Tony Francis recorded two interceptions against Penn State and now has picked off a pass in three-straight games (Minnesota, Michigan and Penn State). He is the first Illini player to intercept two passes in a game since Ivan Benson picked off two against Washington State on Sept. 20, 1997.
3. Francis' four interceptions this year are three more than in his three previous seasons combined (he had one in 1998). His four INTs this season is the highest season total for an Illini since Asim Pleas and Trevor Starghill each had four in 1996.
4. Fred Wakefield's second-quarter sack moved him into seventh on the Illini all-time list with 12 career sacks.
5. Josh Whitman's 33-yard reception in the first quarter is the longest in his career.
6. Penn State's seven first-half points were the least scored by the Nittany Lions this year. Prior to this game the lowest first-half point total by Penn State was 10 against Miami.
7. Illini punter Steve Fitts has moved into eighth on the Illinois career punt yardage list. His 482 punting yards today give him 5,530 in his career.
8. Rocky Harvey's 145 rushing yards against Penn State are the most by an Illini player since Nov. 7, 1998 when Steve Havard rushed for 146 against Indiana.
9. Illini quarterback Kurt Kittner's seven completions against Penn State is his season low. Previously his low this year was 15 at Indiana. His completion percentage of 26.9 is also a season low. Kittner did not pass for more than 100 yards for the first time this year. His previous low in 1999 is 180 against Minnesota.
