Rob Macher joined the Illinois football program in January 2026 as a nutrition fellow. 

Macher earned a bachelor’s of science in food science and human nutrition with a concentration in dietetics from the University of Illinois in May 2025. While a student, Macher worked as a nutrition intern with the football program by providing support at the Illini Fuel station. He also worked as a kitchen instructor and monitor at Illinois’ Activities and Recreation Center from 2023-25, supervising and ensure a safe environment for groups that reserved kitchen space and facilitated a variety of health and culture-based cooking classes. 

Macher is enrolled in Illinois’ master’s of science in clinical and community nutrition program with an expected graduation date of May 2027.
