Schmidt earned his Bachelor’s degree Media Studies from Loras College in 2016.
Job Responsibilities:
Schmidt is the secondary social media video contact for football and men’s basketball while also helping create content for the in-game videoboard broadcasts. Joel assists in shooting, editing, and archiving of creative football and basketball game footage and helps train students in content creation. He also serves as a secondary director for the women’s basketball videoboard show and assists with in-game videoboard operations for baseball. Joel has worked with many sports during his time at Illinois including football, men’s basketball, softball, volleyball, men’s tennis, soccer, women’s basketball and men’s gymnastics.
Past Experience:
Schmidt began as a Fighting Illini Productions intern in 2016.
Personal:
Schmidt is a native of Dubuque, Iowa and currently lives in Champaign.
