Education:
Jahnel is a 2004 graduate of the University of Iowa where he earned his Bachelor's degree in athletic training and worked as a student athletic trainer for the Hawkeye wrestling and football teams. He then went on to earn his master's degree in kinesiology from Illinois State University in 2006 while working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the Redbird football and baseball teams.
Job Responsibilities:
Jahnel serves as the athletic trainer for the Fighting Illini wrestling team. He also serves as the lead for student athlete intake and drug testing.
Past Experience:
Prior to his time at Illinois, Jahnel was the staff athletic trainer for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling and tennis teams from 2006-2009.
Jeff has been extensively involved with USA Wrestling over the past several years working the U.S. Senior National Championships in 2008 & 2009 and the Cadet/Junior National Championships in 2009 & 2010. As well as traveling to Nicaragua for the Junior Pan American Championships in 2010, Bulgaria for the Junior World Championships in 2013 and Cadet Pan American Championships in 2016.
Personal:
The North Liberty, Iowa, native currently resides in Tolono, Illinois with his wife Amy, and their children Gabriel and Abigail.
