Education:
Janes is a 2023 graduate of the University of Illinois, where he earned his degree in journalism.
Responsibilities:
Janes is the primary SID contact for the Fighting Illini volleyball, baseball, men's tennis, men's gymnastics, and women's gymnastics programs. After serving as an athletics communication coordinator at Illinois from 2023-25, Janes was promoted to assistant director, athletics communication in August 2025.
In 2024, Janes was honored in the College Sports Communicators Fred Stabley Sr. Writing Contest with four submissions selected as Best in the District. His winners were for Best Coach Profile, General Feature, Season Recap, and Social Justice Feature.
Past Experience:
Janes served as a student worker in a feature writing role in the athletics communication office during the 2022-23 academic year.

A native of Chicago, Illinois, Janes now resides in Champaign.
