Brett Stillwell was named Senior Associate Director of Athletics for capital projects and facilities at Illinois in August 2016. Stillwell recently served as campus architect for capital programs and senior planner for the University of Illinois since 2012.Â
Education:
Stillwell graduated from UIUC with a bachelor's degree in architecture in 1979, and completed his course work toward a second master's degree in architectural design from UIUC in 2004. He is a licensed architect in the state of Illinois with multiple design awards and recognitions from the American Institute of Architects and other organizations.
Responsibilities:
In addition to his responsibility for overseeing the Fighting Illini athletic facilities and staff, he manages the design and construction of new capital construction projects. Stillwell also serves as athletics liaison with campus Facilities and Services and in the development of the campus masterplan.
Past Experience:
A graduate of the University of Illinois, Stillwell has remained in the Champaign-Urbana area. Prior to coming to work for the University, Stillwell was principal of a successful architectural practice in Champaign for more than 25 years. His background and experience provides him with the unique ability to be completely involved in the programming, design, development, and construction of the Renaissance of University of Illinois athletic facilities.
Personal:
Originally from nearby Mahomet, Ill., Stillwell is a life-long Fighting Illini fan and currently resides in Champaign with his wife, Stormy.
