Alexandra “Al” Campion (née Ritchie) joined the Fighting Illini staff as the assistant director of social media in July of 2022. She assists the director of social media in management of accounts and interns. Campion is also the social media lead for the main Illini Athletics account, volleyball, men's basketball, and men's and women’s gymnastics, and swimming and diving. Additionally, she takes on sports information director duties for men's and women's gymnastics.

Campion earned her Bachelor of Science in business management from Northland College in 2016 while competing on the soccer team as a defender and goal keeper. After graduation, she earned a Master of Science in Integrated Marketing Communications from West Virginia University in 2018 while serving as the social media intern for the women’s soccer program.

Campion came from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay where she served as the marketing and recruitment coordinator. Prior to UW-Green Bay, she served stints with the American Junior Golf Association as in-house communications and the Director of Marketing for both the AB Korkor Foundation for Mental Health and Purity Photography.

Campion is a native of Sheboygan, Wis., and now resides in Champaign with her husband Dan, dog Adam, and cats Maya and Shadow.
